The Resilience of the Lebanese People: A Personal Reflection
The past month has been particularly challenging for me, working as an immigrant from Lebanon while constantly worrying about my family and friends back home. Lebanon, a country already weathered by economic collapse, power outages, and political instability, continues to face unimaginable hardships. It’s not just the news of these struggles that affects me; it’s the personal connections and the stories that hit closer to home, making it difficult to stay focused and keep moving forward.
Recently, I had an experience that deeply moved me and reminded me of the resilience of the Lebanese people. I was working on a project with a developer based in Lebanon, and just as we were in the middle of a crucial task, his laptop and phone batteries died—unsurprising, given the constant power outages. What could have easily ended our work didn’t. Instead, he borrowed his mother’s phone to finish the job. This moment of perseverance and adaptability struck a chord in me. It wasn’t just about finding a solution in a difficult moment; it was about the resilience that runs deep in the Lebanese spirit, a quality that shines in even the darkest of times.
This small act inspired me more than words can express. If he could push through under those circumstances, I knew I had to work harder too. I felt a renewed sense of purpose, to not only succeed for myself but to honor the strong people of Lebanon, where I come from.
In a world that often seems overwhelming, the resilience of my people reminds me to keep going, no matter the challenges. This spirit of perseverance is something I carry with me in all I do, and I am proud to be a part of it.
